The Ndaba Rock is situated in Kigali Rwanda along the Kigali/Gitarama/Kibuye road just a few kilometers i.e 12 before Karongi District and 28 kms to Kibuye City Center. Referred to as the “Urutare rwa Ndaba” in Karongi District, this rock has a very remarkably interesting story to its evolution and name. i.e Before the days of civilization, there lived a popular hunter referred to as Ndaba who hunted in the forest around the rock for a while. One day, as he went hunting for wild game and honey with his friends he saw a rock with a vast hole and from it, buzzed bees from the bottom to the top and vice versa. Due to curiosity and ambition, he proceed to the hole where he spotted lots of honey dripping from the honey combs. He shouted informing his friends of what he had discovered thee by asking them to go to the bottom to pick some of it. Before the friends arrived, he jumped into the hole to collect some honey and the moment he was at the bottom, he fed himself non stop. The honey was a lot to an extent that the bees did not bother him but due to his greed, he over ate an lost energy. As the sun set, the friends realised that it was getting dark so they shouted his name asking him to get back up and they go back home but unfortunately, Ndaba was so fully and could not help himself up. They decided to leave him behind and later as he tried to get out the hole, he slid and fell back at the bottom hence loosing his life. Today this rock is famously referred to as the ndaba Rock and includes candid waterfalls flowing on it.
