4 Days: Lake Kivu Road Trip

Beaches, boat trips and the winding lakeshore road between Rubavu and Kibuye.

1. Day1

   Kigali → Rubavu

   Drive north-west through Musanze to the shore of Lake Kivu. Arrive in time for a swim and a sunset on the beach.

2. Day2

   Rubavu

   A free day by the lake: beaches, a boat trip, or a walk through town and along the waterfront.

3. Day3

   Rubavu → Kibuye

   Take the lakeshore road south through tea and coffee country. Stop wherever the views tempt you, then take a boat out to the islands at Kibuye.

4. Day4

   Kibuye → Kigali

   Drive back east to Kigali, stopping at Ndaba Rock on the way, and return the car.
